Coach Summary 2009 Virginia Collegiate Rowing Championships

The day started out very strongly for William and Mary Rowing, as the Novice Women went undefeated, winning the 8+ race over the University of Richmond, and going 1-2 in the 4+ race against both Virginia Tech and Richmond. Congratulations ladies!
Not to be outdone, the Novice Men also had a good day, rowing solidly against a tough and much more experienced University of Virginia 8+, and then turning around and dominating both Richmond and V-Tech in the 4+ race later in the day.
In the varsity races, the day began extremely well for W&M, as the Varsity Women soundly trounced two V-Tech boats in the 4+ and the Varsity Men won the 4+ race by beating boats from V-Tech, Richmond and Virginia. Later in the day, the varsity returned to the water to race in the day’s signature event, the Varsity 8+.  Though both squads performed well, they were edged out in the end by less than three seconds by their counterparts from V-Tech.  Congratulations to all athletes for a great day of racing, and for bringing home the inaugural VCRC Team Points Trophy, as well as the VT/WM Waterfield Trophy!
