William and Mary Rowing faced its toughest competition and harshest conditions of the season at the Sandy Run Regional Park in Northern Virginia. After a successful preliminary race, the novice women’s 8+ advanced to the grand finals to challenge varsity programs including Georgetown and St. Joseph’s University.
The highlight of the day was the first place finish of the novice men 4+ who finished a solid 30 seconds ahead of other competitors and out stroked two varsity crews.
The varsity women raced two 8+ with each boat advancing to the petit finals. The varsity women also raced in the 4+ and finished in the top of the pack among other club programs.
The varsity men placed third in the 8+ heat in the final race of the day. The Tribe will be under intense training for the next few weeks in preparation for the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association (SIRA) Regatta on April 15th, 16th, and 17th. Stay tuned for details!
