About

We regret to announce that we are canceling the FWR Golf Fundraiser, previously scheduled for this coming September. Thank you to those who supported the idea and continuously support our organization. We look forward to planning a similar event in the future and always welcome fundraising ideas to help support the William & Mary Rowing Club and The Williamsburg Boat Club.

We apologize for any inconvenience. Please look forward to upcoming projects and announcements from FWR.

Sincerely  – FWR Board Members

This charity golf tournament, hosted by Friends of Williamsburg Rowing, will occur on Saturday September 21st, 2013.  Located at Kingsmill Resort’s breathtaking Plantation course, this golf outing is open to the general public.  The proceeds generated from this event will be donated in its entirety to the WMRC Endowment Fund.

Friends of Williamsburg Rowing is a 501(c) nonprofit organization irrevocably dedicated to supporting the rowing community in Williamsburg, particularly at the College of William and Mary.  This support manifests itself in many ways, most notably fundraising the necessary capital required to operate a competitive program.

Friends of Williamsburg Rowing (“FWR”) has stated its new primary objective following the completion of the Tack Family Boathouse is the William & Mary Rowing Club (“WMRC”) Endowment Fund, which currently requires a minimum of $50,000 in order to join the College’s endowment.  This fund will be used to offset the regular equipment costs of the program.  The single-most promising potential source of annual fundraising revenue for driving the Endowment project is a golf tournament, held in Williamsburg during W&M’s Parents Weekend.

In addition to generating funds for FWR and WMRC, other benefits of this event include: promoting the fundraising efforts of FWR in the Williamsburg community; promoting the team, the sport, and more generally the College; developing ties with potential individual donors and local businesses; creating an event that both the collective rowing community and the Williamsburg community can look forward to, which will serve to maintain ties between the two; and, last but not least, further strengthen the relationship of FWR and WMRC by having a good time.
