Here is the stern deck footage of the WMRC Women’s Varsity Four during their semifinal at SIRAs. The top three boats from this heat advance to finals. The first place boat from George Washington (a varsity-supported program) had to row at a 41, almost nine beats higher than the Tribe, in order to win. Coxswain Mairin Haley also did not call a sprint, allowing her rowers to conserve energy for the last race the next day. Despite holding back, the Tribe still easily crushed the rest of the field. This boat wound up finishing 4th the following day, being bested only by varsity programs- no small feat for our club!
